Ogden, UT 84403

Ogden (Weber county) is on I-15, US-89 and the Weber and Ogden rivers, thirty five miles north of Salt Lake City.  In 1844-45, a mountainman/trapper, Miles Goodyear, with his Indian wife, built a trading post and small fort on the site that he named Fort Buenaventura.  The 1847 arrival of the Mormons induced him to sell his land.  The site was purchaed by Captain James Brown, a Mormon representative.  The fort and small settlement around the site then became Brownsville.  In 1850, by order of the General Assembly of Deseret, the community name was changed from Brownsville to Ogden, Honoring Peter Skene Ogden.  This brigade leader for the Hudson Bay Company never entered this immediate area.
The public web site for Ogden is http://www.ogdencity.com/.  You can find a lot of interesting information about the city, what their future plans are and events the city is scheduling.  One project I find fasinsting is the construction of a Gondola with a leg connecting to Snow Basin.  You can find out more when you do type in "gondola"  on the search bar at the top right on the home page.  The newspaper serving the community is the Davis Standard Examiner.  Their web site is:  http://www.standard.net/
